Narendra Modi's ambitious project make in India is now showing results. The world's largest mobile manufacturing factory is eastablished in Noida and on 9 July 2018 this factory was innaugrinau.
In June last year South Korean giant
Samsung announced a Rs 4915Cr. investment in it's Noida based manufacturing plant to double it's production capacity.
Company currently makes 67million smartphones in India and with the new plant being functional, it is expected to make 120million smartphone in India.
Not just mobile, this facility will also increase it's capacity to produce consumer electronics goods like refrigerator, television and increase the companies market reach in these segments.
According to Tarun Pathak,Associate director at counterpoint research,the new facility gives Samsung an advantage by reducing the time to market.
"This will help Samsung to bring some local features to the device powered by R&D here.Apart from this, the company can also bring in export opportunity for Samsung to SAARC and other regions," Pathak told IANS.
The company is currently producing more than 10 per cent of it's overall production in India and now it is expected to increase it's capacity over 50 per cent in next 3 years.
"For Samsung, India is among top 5 smartphone markes globally. The US is saturated and Korea and Brazil are not growing significantly. India is a big opportunity across price segments, including 2G features phones. It makes sense for Samsung to build a bigger manufacturing base here," Jaipal Singh, Senior Market Analyst,IDC,told IANS.
"They are now looking to build a complete ecosystem. After smartphones, they can go into building of top-of-the-line products in other categories like TVs, refrigerators as advance manufacturing in India still lags behind. With the new facility, Samsung is going to have an edge over it's rivals,"Singh noted.
According to HC Hong, President and CEO, Samsung India, a bigger manufacturing plant will help them carter to the growing demand for Samsung products across the country.
Samsung India registered the growth of 27% in financial year 2016-17. New plan was inaugurated on 9 July,2018.
